. >>> this super bowl matchup has it all. the harbaughs, ray lewis, colin kaepernick, joe flacco, and the list goes on. >> the nfl commissioner on sunday's big game. more than 100 million viewers will watch the super bowl in new orleans with the ravens and 49ers, call it an east coast/west coast thing. rachel, make me excited about this. as a kind of rookie myself in the world of super bowls, why is this one going to be special, as the commissioner seems to suggest? >> this is a great super bowl. this is going to be a close one. there have been games in the past that have been blow-outs, they get boring. everyone is watching the third and fourth quarter just for the commercials. this is one we expect to come down to maybe the final two minutes. maybe a field goal. these are two teams that are well matched. if you look at the experts picking games, a lot of them are coming down on each side, there's not an overwhelming favorite, and there's an excitement. colin kaepernick is a new style of quarterback. a running quarterback, and he also throws. he's exciting, and on the other side, ray lewis, a vete

. >> that was really funny. we have to talk about the san francisco 49ers quarterback. his name is colin kaepernick, he's sort of this accidental quarterback who kisses his biceps and praises god. here's joe carter. >> colin, we believe has the hot hand and we'll go with colin. >> at the time, jim harbaugh's decision seemed very risky. 11 games into the season, he benched his veteran quarterback and placed the weight of a franchise on the shoulders of a player unknown to many outside san francisco. the move was bold, but it worked. and this team hasn't looked back since. >> what he's accomplished, what he's done, we're so happy for his success. and, you know, the kind of young man that his parents raised his family, his hometown, his high school coaches and college coaches. >> this boom or bust project has turned into one of the nfl's biggest play makers. is what his teammates began to buy into, as well. >> he wants to be successful. he wants to be great. >> he says i just want to play. i want to play. i want my opportunity. i can see the fire in his eyes. he just wanted to prove what he can do. >> may

of the last 6, which means start with the quarterbacks, you have colin kaepernick for san francisco, joe flacco for baltimore, they have great postseasons, so whoever looks like that guy early, luckily will be that guy at the end with his fingerprints on the lombardi trophy. >> interesting. let's turn now for a minute. to baltimore. is everyone putting aside what happened in atlanta after the super bowl? >> they probably are putting that aside. i hate ray lewis' dance, do you like that dance? >> no, it's horrible. but i like ray lewis. >> wait a minute, what happened to -- no, i hate the dance. >> i'm going to get into that. ray lewis is one of the most liked persons in the nfl by his piers, except for quarterbacks. i had a 45 minute interview with ray lewis back in october. the thing that came across quickly. very sincere, very inspirational, he told me before he announced his retirement, he wants to spend the rest of his life telling young people his mistakes so they can't make the same mistakes. >> do you think he's a changed man? >> i'm convinced he is, from what happened 13 years ag

joe flacco and colin kaepernick will put the ball in the air. the ravens have to. that's their m.o. they throw it down the field. ray rice probably won't run a the ball a lot but he should be a big part of catching the football. when it comes to the san francisco 49ers, with kaepernick in there in the playoffs, i think their average is 286 yards roughly running the football. i'd expect the 49ers to run it. i expect the ravens to try and put it down the field. and something's going to happen in this game. i promise you. when we do this broadcast worldwide to 146 countries, they're going to be talking about it all around the world saying that was amazing. there's always something that happens in the game. >> all right. interesting. so let's talk about your team, the redskins, and rg3. we saw that terrible injury of robert griffin iii in the playoff loss to seattle and many people harken that back to your career-ending leg injury in 1985, which is still very, very hard to watch. was it worth it? is there's a lot of concern about this. was it worth it for rg3 to play in that game? >>

the ravens are averaging 31 points in the playoffs. the san francisco 49ers with colin kaepernick as their high-energy quarterback, they have an explosive offense. they all say defense is the key but this could be a big offensive battle and right now 3.5 points, it's really one of those things, the 49ers are actually favored. it's one of those things where you could have an explosion of offense and this game could be a really high-scoring affair. >> carlos, i can't let you go without asking you about this. the super bowl falling in the same period as marty gra as w. l what is this mardi gras you speak of? they're not putting it off. it falls in the two previous weeks to ash wednesday and fat tuesday. they're calling it super-g ras. in the second week of mardi gras. so they're calling it super-g ras. it's three weeks of partying in new orleans. if there's a place to party, it ooh tess french quarters. that's the thing with doechs. we've got to keep the players away from the temptations of new orleans. you know, last year in indianapolis they weren't talking about the temptations of
